Rumour mills went on and on switching back and forth amongst Deepika, Aalia, and Katrina for Imtiaz Ali’s next flick. The male lead – Ranbir Kapoor had been decided long ago but the hunt for female lead seems to be finally over. According to several reports, including DNA, Imtiaz was patiently waiting to see the result of Yeh Jawaani Hai Deewani and see if the Ranbir-Deepika duo still have it to draw in the audience and make their hearts melt. Although the movie received mixed reviews, Ranbir-Deepika pair has witnessed the successful front!
So the buzz is that Imtiaz Ali has finally decided to bring Deepika on board opposite Ranbir Kapoor in his next production.
An industry source stated to the media, ““The success of YJHD proves beyond all doubts that the audiences are in love with this onscreen pair. Ranbir was on-board for almost a year. Though Imtiaz and Ranbir had discussed various options for the lead actress, they were still debating on who was the best choice. It was during the shooting of YJHD, that Ranbir suggested Deepika’s name. Imtiaz, who worked with her before in Love Aaj Kal, was open to the idea. Then came the blockbuster — YJHD — which turned out to be the clinching factor.”
