Yeh Jawaani Hai Deewani replaced Rowdy Rathore to become the second biggest opener

Ranbir Kapoor and Deepika Padukone starrer Yeh Jawani Hain Diwani got a fantastic opening and has earned a whopping 19.45 crore on the first day itself. It has emerged as the biggest opener of the year 2013, breaking the records of Ranbir’s previous releases, Barfi and Rockstar.

Yeh Jawaani Hai Deewani released in 3000 screens and received a huge amount of advance ticket booking. However, it failed to beat Salman's Dabangg 2 mind-blowing record by a small margin. Dabangg 2 collected 21.1 crore in India continuing to be the biggest opener till date.

Yeh Jawaani Hai Deewani has successfully replaced Rowdy Rathore to become the second biggest opener on a non-holiday.

This movie is doing exceptionally well all across the nation and is also breaking records overseas!

Ye Jawaani Hai Deewani opens with a bang!

The much awaited Ye Jawaani Hai Deewani has hit the theaters and how! The movie directed by Ayan Mukherji and starring Ranbir Kapoor & Deepika Padukone, is making big bucks at the box office.

As per Boxofficeindia, the opening at multiplexes is going great. It can be compared with Ek Tha Tiger which was a holiday release. As per reports, the film has also opened well in non-metro multiplexes. The single screen openings have also been good where the movie beat the likes of Ra.One, Don 2, Rowdy Rathore etc in opening figures.

The film has been released on around 3100 screens across India. It has had a 90-100% start at multiplexes and 60-70% at single screens.

Trade analyst Taran Adarsh tweeted that the movie should be Ranbir Kapoor's biggest opener. As per him, the movie took a Blockbuster start in UAE (AED 800,000) while Barfi was AED 450,000.

The start is therefore definitely good. It will be interesting to watch how the movie progresses through the coming days..
